From Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation
Revision as of 10:17, 1 August 2020
The Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (DSACR) is delighted to inform the creative sector, sport fraternity, stakeholders and the general public that the process for the COVID-19 Relief Fund for Artists and Athletes is reaching finality in the Free State.
Following a protracted process that began since the Declaration of a State of Disaster by his Excellency, Mr President Cyril Ramaphosa on 15 March as well as the announcement of a Relief Fund for Artists and Athletes by
Minister Nathi Mthethwa on 25 March 2020, the Department had been hard at work to as speedily as possible process the applications that were received from artists and athletes of the Free State.
Having finalized the adjudication of applications, and progress having been made to effect payments to qualifying individuals (last payments to be effected by 3 August 2020), the Department is now entering the final stage
of the process which has to do with Appeals. All applicants who would have not received payments by 3 August 2020 should consider their applications as unsuccessful. Those unsuccessful applicants can then enter an appeals process if they so wish.
Appeals should be submitted in writing stating:
- Full Names
- South African I.D Number
- Full Company Names where applicable (names used during application)
- Full Contact Details
- Grievance (Appeal) outlining reasons why the application should be reconsidered.
Applicants considering to appeal are advised that verbal appeals will not be considered. Appeals should be submitted via email: email@example.com not later than 14 August 2020.
“As we reach the final stage of this process, we again want to express our gratitude to our stakeholders in the creative sector and sport fraternity. The process has indeed not been without challenges and hiccups. The COVID-
19 pandemic is a new and unprecedented terrain for all of us. In our efforts to respond to it and mitigate its effect on our daily lives we therefore had to go through trial and error. Whatever challenges and hiccups have been experienced, and that still might remain to be addressed, should be seen in this difficult context. We thank our artists and athletes for their patience and tenacity during this difficult process that we had to undertake”, stated the MEC for SACR, Mrs Limakatso Mahasa.
