SOCIAL SUPPORT TO FREE STATE (FS) ARTISTS APPLICATION In addition to the Relief Fund and 4IR resources made available to mitigate against widespread cancellation of festivals, music concerts, exhibitions, productions and other events in the wake of the COVID 19 Pandemic, the FSACC has now extended the scope to include social support to Free State artists and creative industry workers infected or affected by the COVID 19 pandemic.

COVID-19 Relief Fund Payments to Artists Effected

Subsequent to the commitment to effect payments to Free State artists and athletes made on 03 July 2020, the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation has started with the payment process through the Free State Arts and Culture Council (PACC). Payments to artists whose applications were successful in the category of Financial Relief started on 17 July 2020. Of the 730 applications received, 360 applications were approved. Read more

MEC MAHASA EXPRESSES HER CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF AMBASSADOR ZINZI MANDELA

The Free State MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mrs. Limakatso Mahasa, has learnt with shock of the news of the passing of South Africa’s Ambassador to Denmark, Ms Zindzi Mandela. Though details surrounding Ms Zinzi Mandela’s passing are still not clear at this stage, MEC Mahasa, however, wishes to take this opportunity to express her deep condolences to the Mandela family, friends, comrades and colleagues.

MEC MAHASA APPOINTS NEW FREE STATE ARTS AND CULTURE COUNCIL

Following the lapsing of the term of the Free State Arts and Culture Council (PACC), the new council has been appointed in line with Free State Arts and Culture Council Act, 2007 (Act No. 7 of 2007). The outgoing council was appointed in September 2016 for a period of three (3) years as gazetted on 23 September 2016.

MEC Mahasa Expresses Her Condolences at the Passing-on of Mme Twala

Like a Baobab tree she was deep rooted as her roots ran deeper into the solid ground. She stood unshaken and unbent by the raging storms around her as she stood firm above the ground. Her footsteps were thunderously heard and felt across the length and breadth of our land. She was indeed a colossus that trodded this land leaving footprints deep into the ground as evidence that indeed she has passed.
